With Great Joy We Celebrate Graduates and Hope!

By Daniela and Danika

After TLC, I studied as an air-traffic controller for 3 months in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and 3 months in Ilopango, El Salvador. Lastly, I finished with my internship at Manuel Villeda Rosales Internacional airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

I am from Gualcinse, Honduras. It is a small community full of hardworking and kind people also surrounded by beautiful mountains and where you can enjoy the best views of the country. I come from a very large family, wealthy and full of love. I grew up with my grandmother, my older brother, one of my aunts and one of my cousins. My family has always been my motivation, they have always supported me in an unconditional way. More than all, my grandmother has always been my example to follow and my motivation to always fight for my dreams. She has been a leading woman in my community who has always been fighting for the coming of the community.

Last year I was looking for a job, when the opportunity came that they were hiring staff for the new Palmerola airport. I sent my resume to AHAC (Aronaurica Civil). After a week they called me that I had to do some tests in Tegucigalpa. I did 5 tests in total. After that, they called me that I had been chosen and that I had to start with my courses that lasted about 6 months. It is a very beautiful job that is not very common, where in a very short time I had to learn many things that I never imagined learning. At the same time it is a stressful job that requires a lot of responsibility because, the lives of many people are in my hands.

Something disappointing is that in our country they do not value this hard, careful work we do, we receive a very low salary. For me that part has been very difficult because I am not from Comayagua and I have to pay where to live, transport, food and help my family. But without a doubt, this work has helped me grow a lot in the workplace.

In the future, I would like to help my community in many ways. I would like to support a lot in health education and anxiety. I would like to be able to get scholarships for women and girls in my community because most of them lose their future due to lack of education and money. In my community, we lack good medical care. I would very much like in the future that our community has a hospital with all the necessary medicines, doctors and equipment.

TLC has helped Honduras a lot over the last few years by educating women who are making a great impact on the lives of many people with projects, talks, and many other things. Personally, TLC helped me to find myself, to know the value and capacity I have and the most important thing is that I have the ability to help others no matter how little I have.

I was very excited to see the plane that Mrs.Chris was coming on. And that I had the opportunity to welcome her from the control tower, I was very happy to do it.
