Shirley has been involved in teaching and supporting young women for nearly two decades. She started as an elementary school teacher and then spent over 10 years with a local ministry helping teen mothers and their babies. In 2023, Shirley was introduced to Leadership Mission International and decided to visit campus. The focus on women’s education and sustainable farming really struck a chord with her, and she wanted to get more involved. Currently, she is involved with a mentor program for the TLC Alumni and has visited campus 3 times this past year.
With a degree in Education from Central Washington University, Shirley combines her love for teaching and farming as a board member at LMI. She lives on a small farm in Washington state with her husband and 3 teenage children, taking care of sheep, chickens, bees, and various fruit and nut trees. Recently, she has been passionate about growing a flower garden.
