Betsy Swann Martinez

Betsy Swann Martinez brings more than fourteen years of experience working with immigrant and refugee communities. From administering English classes for newly arrived families, to leading mental health support groups in Spanish, to developing a multicultural team of healthcare ambassadors serving immigrant populations, Betsy’s community-facing work has taken many forms. Still, one common theme has remained the same: supporting, honoring, and advocating for immigrant families as they navigate life in the U.S. She now serves as the Program Director at Equal Chance for Education, a college scholarship program for FAFSA-ineligible students, where she leads the organization’s scholar-facing programming, actively engaging with hundreds of students, alumni, and community members throughout recruitment, enrollment, and post-college to support persistence and long-term success.

With a bachelor’s in Anthropology/Sociology from Rhodes College and a master’s in Civic Leadership from Lipscomb University, Betsy brings a systems-level approach to program management while remaining deeply rooted in the unique stories of each program participant. It is her joy and passion to serve global communities in her hometown of Nashville, TN. Outside of work, Betsy enjoys planning international adventures, running, and spending time with her husband.
