Leadership Mission International develops ethical and powerful women who we hope will become change agents in their communities across Honduras. Utilizing their education and newly developed business skills, LMI graduates are empowered to lead change and support their local communities by starting new businesses, working at global non-profits, or pursuing further education to strengthen their skills. LMI is proud of our students and the work they have done post-graduation. Many have stepped up in times of crisis across the nation to provide sustainable food sources, safety, and supplies for those in need.
From Student to Director: Lenis' Journey to Leadership
"LMI made me resilient, perseverant, ambitious, and prepared me mentally and physically, helping me become the leader I am today. It taught me to use a computer, and I will always be grateful to LMI for giving me the opportunity to study and advance in life. Through the community development projects, we learned to work with people of different personalities. Those projects teach students the realities of leading people with various attitudes, teaching us to lead others with patience and love despite differences. Thanks to these projects, many alumni, including myself, have better control over our work lives."

Since the curfews begun in Honduras on March 27,2020 until Jan 2, 2021, with the support of donations mostly from the Network of Rehabilitation Workers of the Americas, my team and I have carried out 15 rounds food deliveries. We have prepared and delivered 565 parcels of food and 2,950 cooked meals in 19 different communities within a 50 km radius of Puerto Cortes, Cortés, Honduras.

LMI graduates have now accessed $17,677 to lead 65 different relief projects in communities around the country throughout this year. Now, they are distributing food, mattresses, and other primary necessities for families.

I started my business project in early 2019 with the loan from TLC. I saw the situation in my community. I understood that we needed an English academy for adults because people had to travel to another city to learn this language. It was an opportunity. Every project has ups and downs but now the business is running very well. Thank God. Academia Americana is a project for young people and adults to learn the English language. Speaking English in our country is becoming more of a necessity. We help people to have more job opportunities.

I decided to establish a community chicken farm. With the help of LMI, my chicken farm team purchased 13 hens, one rooster, food and supplies to set up the chicken farm. The farm will provide more affordable eggs than available in local markets, chicken meat and organic fertilizer, all sustainable benefits to the people of Yamaranguila.
