On September 15, 1821, Honduras gained independence from Spain colonialism along with the rest of Central America. After years of attempting to remain united with Mexico and other countries in Central America, Honduras eventually gained independence as its own unique nation in 1838.  Over the past two centuries, Honduras has struggled to develop a healthy and sustainable economy to support individuals and families to have access to basic human rights like good nutrition, education, and healthcare. Small business entrepreneurship is one of the pathways that our graduates are taking towards leading sustainable change in Honduras by creating market growth and job opportunities in departments throughout the country.
